This is a rough cut trailer of my video footage which I took when cycling home from Siberia... most of this footage was taken between Australia and Afghanistan.

On the 30,000 mile, 3 year journey, I had no back up and no sponsorship. To get this footage I just balanced the camera on a rock and rode past it, or sometimes asked somebody I met (and trusted!) to film me riding along.

Please see cyclinghomefromsiberia.com for more info on the trip.

man, that looks like an amazing trip. I see you hopped a ride on a tanker? that must have been pretty crazy too.

Absolutely fabulous footage - what a marvellous enterprise and what determination the journey must have taken. Shades of Places In Between.... Wonder if you cycled through Afghanistan with a Union Flag on the back of your bike.

Did you by any chance stop and give a talk at St George's school in Rome? I think my son came home and told me about your travels one afternoon. Episodes about falling through ice in Siberia, a teddy-bear mascot sitting on the front of your bike? I'll have to show him this video tomorrow....

Wonderful video - would love to see more.

    Hi Amenon
Yes, I did give a talk at St Georges - please say hi to your son for me!

I cycled through Afghanistan but took the union jack flag off my bike for the occasion!

Nat Geo will be editing the footage starting next month so hopefully there will be more coming soon.

    Cheers

Hi Rob - passed on your greetings and showed my son your video - he was impressed. Wise move re the Union Jack I imagine... Another funny thing - the husband of an old family friend here is a professional film-maker and has done a number of trailers for Nat Geo. Look forward to seeing your film when it comes out.

Wow, that is amazing. I will never look at my wimpy 25 mile per day biking commute the same. Congrats on such an accomplishment.

Cycling long distances...! Best start with shorter distances and gradually build up, but basically it is just a matter of getting on your bike and going.

Please see the FAQs page on my website for more detail cyclinghomefromsiberia.com/wordpress/?cat=16

or send me any specific questions you have.

    Take care

    Wow! Awesome stuff!

I missed you in Tibet by just a few months last year! I did meet 1 or 2 other multi-year cyclists, they were full of stories and adventures, as I'm sure you are now too.

Cool to see you're able to use the trip for such positive effects on lots of other people. Best of luck!

Wow - this is... I am amazed. 3 years on a bike through that many different places must have changed you in ways that I can't even imagine right now.

    Very inspiring.
