Personally, I enjoy the Ian knot for typically daily shoe tying. For boots and active footwear I use Ian's secure shoelace knot.

Thank you for "Scuzz in the Broguing". (And for the whole thing of course. Great advice brought in a relatable way!)

Loved it, and it made me feel much less bad about saving up for the pair of Aldens I've been eying (soon, my feet; soon). I'd practice the reef knot now, but I wore loafers today. Next time!

Is it just me, or is the Sandwich tying a granny knot (going around the front first) anyway at the end?

Not trying to be a dick, just want to make sure. My life was changed, regardless.

While I am a man of simple means, and cheap clothing, I do appreciate a well crafted web based video programme. I find myself at a loss to list any that are better. Kudos, and may the next episode come well within 6 months..

  • Nonagenarian feedback! I sent this to my 90-y.o. grandmother. She wrote: "I think that the video is very good. You didn't get to find out how to fit a pair of shoes. That would be most helpful. In order to get the full benefit of such care, you really should start with a really good pair of shoes, which you would NOT wear everyday, but keep for special times. There is a lot more to caring for shoes than was explicated in the video, but it's a good start. Using shoe trees is very important."

She's got a good point, your grandma. There's so much to learn about shoes, and we could've easily made a 90 minute show on it and still been missing stuff. Unfortunately, we have to keep it concise.

Ok, you kind of freaked me out a little bit. I paused your video right after you stated the two names of the knots so I could untie my shoe and retie it your way. Sure enough it worked. After cursing a few times in disbelief I said aloud "This just changed my life." I hit play again and then you said "I just changed your life." I kid you not this just happened. Wow, thank you.

...best thing about this video...and all the others in the short lived series...is Raul's mustache. Everything outside of that...meh.

Wait...I'm adding constructive criticism here. Even going so far as to do so upfront and honestly (as opposed to the widespread anonymous ranting/hate). I don't think we need to take this to a personal level. I'm not judging your skills, character, or abilities. Rather, I wish there was something to be gained from the existence of these videos. Teach me something new...

The reversed, secure shoelace knot hit me with the force of a ton of bricks. Given how often I find my laces loosened on my vigorous walks, this could be huge for me!

Quite enjoying the show. Aside from the knot mentioned above, I knew everything you've covered (in all three of your shows so far), but the presentation is good enough that I would willingly sit through repeated viewings. Bravo!

So after trying out the new shoe laces trick I have to say it hasn't worked for me, although my laces are much thicker than those in this video and my 'shoes' are actually sneakers.

Can anyone confirm that their lives, have in fact, been changed?
