A glimpse of what we've been working on over the last few weeks.

The documentary is about the current global financial crisis and how it's effecting American people, loss of homes, jobs, businesses & pensions. Whilst in the States we spoke to many people, economists and everyday Americans alike and there's alot of disillusionment with the current economic instability and fears that the worst is yet to come. We also look at what's happening in the world... how the globalised world is so connected that one countries bankruptcy effects all. It's pretty political but the main thing is, people are beginning to demand change for a system that looks after the majority instead of an elite few.

Would love to hear your thoughts.

    Thanks! I used a Zoom H4n recorder with a
Sennheiser MKH-416 and the echo was added in FCP.

  • Beautifully shot, what did you use? I was Particularly moved when watching the series of protestors. Something about that made me really empathise. Also, Love Mumford and Sons, cant wait to see the full documentary!

    Thanks Jas,
Yeah, we were in Washington DC just a few days before the Health care bill was passed, interesting times...
I used a Canon 7d with L series glass, a few shots were on an EX1.
    Hope your well,
    H
  • Really beautiful work. Moving...very cinematic.

I wish I could get results half as good as yours with my 7D. If you don't mind me asking, which L series lenses did you use for the close ups of faces? Was it an EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM? Something else? How did you stabilize the 7D other than a mono or tripod?

Thanks, Look forward to the next video.

Yeah most of the face shots are with the 70-200 IS my favourite lens!
I used a small manfrotto carbon fibre tripod, however some shots were just with the Z-finder shot @ 50fps

Nicely done. The true problem is there is no accountability anymore. We all live in an instant gratification society in the US and we have a federal government that has become the great enabler.

much respect, even more having read you shot this on a DSLR, Lush visual story telling. excellent work, can't judge the content, as the promo does what it should do, i.e you need to watch this film to know the message/story
    well done

  • Oh, yes how are you handling the AGC on the 7d, didn't notice any pumping or noise issues? I suspect the Zoom is being used alone. thanks, great work, enjoying some of your other projects.

Thanks, Yes your right all the sound was either recorded on the Zoom h4n or straight into an EX1.

    Thanks for your kind words.

  • Nice job Harry. This was pretty amazing and I feel that you blended expert advise beautifully with the individual citizen wonderfully. The cinematography is outstanding and adds that much power to your work, very nice job.

Hey Harry, absolutely blown away with the quality of your work. So much so that I'm thinking about that 70-200mm f2.8 often!

I am confused about one thing. I saw a 70-200mm f4 locally for sale at $500, is their a massive difference between the f2.8 and f4?

When Mr. Obama was running I asked the question, would you hire an executive to run an operation like the United States with so little experience? Everyone said no but they voted for him so as not to vote for the other person, John McCain, a Republican. This is/was, not the way to choose a leader. People chanted the name "Obama" in the streets the night he won. I have not heard a single cheer ever since that night. What a woefully sad state of affairs for so great a country. I am holding the younger genertions responsible for havng such a shallow understandng of the process as well as such faulty judgement of character.

Just came across this while doing some research on lenses. This is very impressive. Great story telling, amazing videography, and your style of editing is some of the best of scene on Vimeo. Can you share any thoughts on the lenses you used? You seem you like you know what your doing, I would greatly appreciate it.
