A personal milestone - ever since I became a fan of 1970s culture (and soul music in particular), I've always wanted to have something out on vinyl. Finally that dream has come true in the form of a one-of-a-kind test cut of Get Together, made in preparation for our upcoming Get Together EP release. The test was to see whether the original mix with a light master put through or my mastered version sounded better, and the end result is that we're going with my master. Copying this file over to the computer and analyzing the audio, its amazing to see just how the analogue medium itself has smoothed out some of the hard compression/limiting of the original master and to my ears this is a far more pleasing, warmer experience.
And for those wondering, my turntable is a Rega P3 - gotta love the 'no-compromise on fidelity' design simplicity of English Audiophile engineering. And yes, that's a Stevie Wonder slipmat.
