WiDrive is a project to allow a standard remote control car to be controlled by an iPhone via WiFi without ripping it to pieces, so you get to keep your stock car and controller. The car has a camera mounted under the shell that allows it to transmit audio and video to a pair of vuix wrap video glasses, giving you an epic viewpoint from the car, this is truly the most epic driving experience (outside of a real car) that I have ever had or invented :).

This is the open beta test of the WiDrive project.

We set up shop in Bournemouth University's sports hall and let loose.

The aim of this test is to see how stable the WiFi connection between the iPhone and the WiDrive module is, and whether the controls on the iPhone app are good enough for use by a completely novice user.

The results turned out to be pretty good, the only issue is the camera.

Thanks to all of those who took part!

Better yet! To see the project in real life feel free to come to our Bournemouth University Graduation Show "goto and play" twitter.com/gotoandplay2010 for updates!
