Feedback is an interactive installation that aims to encourage performance from members of the public and circus performers alike. Using the familiar form of a mirror, the installation uses cutting-edge computer vision techniques to allow users to remix their bodies in real time, and display them on a large scale over the interior and exterior of the Roundhouse in Camden.

By dancing, performing – or even modestly gesturing in front of the screen – the installation will capture the movement of anyone interacting with it to create a graphic animation of their body movements. The effect is similar to that of a ‘Hall of Mirrors’, generating an unexpected and magical wobbly, bendy or stretched reflection.

Feedback will is in the main foyer at the Roundhouse throughout CircusFest, and will be free for everyone to enjoy, experiment and interact with.

Hellicar & Lewis is the creative partnership of Joel Gethin Lewis and Pete Hellicar, who met while working on Dazed & Confused. Coming from disparate backgrounds in professional skateboarding and mathematics, Pete and Joel are united in their desire to create experiences that take people into the moment, using a combination of art direction, set building and interactive design. Recent projects include Night Lights, a large-scale public interactive installation for the rebrand of NZ Telecom in Auckland, New Zealand; Future Artefact, a bespoke shop window installation for Selfridges, London; and Mirror Mirror, a masks installation for the V&A Learning & Interpretation department, which complemented the Baroque Exhibition.

Feedback was commissioned by the Roundhouse and onedotzero, as part of Roundhouse CircusFest 2010.
