Any synopsis on what PEARL would be about? I'm dead curious after viewing all the titling exercises. :P We'd love to have your post added in the JVCHD channel. It just looks so good to miss! vimeo.com/jvchd

    Hi rastAsia
Thanks for the interest, here's the film's synopsis.
Everything in place crew/cast wise now, we're just short of a make up/hair team. Shooting starts this month.

A brother and sister fight desperately to save their beloved Fatherland. One fights for the Nazi cause, the other as part of the Allied resistance. Both believe passionately that they are right.
When their paths cross after an ill-fated SOE operation for the retrieval of secret Nazi documents, It becomes clear that only one argument can win, EVERYTHING depends on it.
But the picture is far larger than both of them. So who is really pulling the strings, the Gespato, or the SOE Chiefs of Staff?
Chrestine and Alixander must fight together to get the documents back to the Allies or the success of the D Day landings could be in danger.
Loyalties are tested, to Fatherland and to family.

Intriguing. I hope we get to see the final product someday... But I doubt it if its a client project. ;) Maybe sneak some test previews maybe... Good to have you on board with the HD7 Wayne.

Yes, I can post some of it, it's not a client job. Unfortunately though, it's going to be shot on a Sony A1E and maybe some of it on a Z1, not the HD7. I'm just the director not the camera guy. It'll take all summer too, so I wouldn't hold your breath… :-)

Ha! What an anti-climax Wayne. But I'm sure we'll see more from you here, HD7 or not ;) So was there any color correction on this one or was it properly white balanced? The smoke looks proper grey/white on the brass bowl to me. It IS brass, right? :P The composite mix looks real grand.

You're spot on, there's no colour balance trickery going on here, or grading, just as it was. Depth of field was something like 10mm just by 10x zoom and f2.8 on the lens. Yes it's a brassTitbetan singing bowl, nothing to do with the film , but like I said on the comments, just a styling exercise.

Well, one's gotta do SOMETHING while waiting to get stuck into the film proper!

Ahh! Chris, I know who you are now. As it happens, I was scouting through your excellent stuff the other day and 'shared' your reflections with narration' to a friend of mine who I thought would appreciate the piece. A lovely piece of work. I must find the link to one done by a guy in New York which I think you would like. Leave it with me for a bit…

Hmm can't find it. All I know is it was called The Beautiful Wind and you can probably google it. Worth a look. A bit long maybe and, like me, the music will haveyou tearing your hair out as a missed opportunity, but still, the essence of it is superb. Mirmont media I think they call themselves. Have a look.
  • Thanks Wayne, I will check that out - hopefully I'll find it.
Also thank you for your kind comments, and I'd like to say; your work has truly inspired me Wayne ... your attention to detail, videography and editing skills are superb.
