“Leather Jude” is a documentary about Jewish Holocaust survivor Hans Biglajzer and the significance of his craft as a saddle maker. Born March 24, 1926 in Bad Honnef, Germany, Hans learned to work with leather in the Lodz Ghetto, a craft that proved integral to his survival at Auschwitz and Dachau. The documentary juxtaposes Hans’ memory of his experience in the Holocaust and his present-day occupation as a master saddle maker in Oregon. Evan Pondel produced and directed the film, Scott T. Walker was director of photography and David Conley was the editor.
