109. ARTreach - Art of the Plaza
ARTreach in partnership with Texas PTA and The Children’s Museum of Houston is hosting “Art on the Plaza” in Cinco Ranch on the first Sundays in March, April and May at Villagio Town Center, 11am – 3pm. This is an interactive art fest designed to encourage participation in the arts in Katy.

Our Katy ISD Art teachers, PTA members, students, and community art volunteers from ARTreach will be on hand to introduce families to a variety of cultural art making processes. Families can participate in community art projects, and learn about printmaking, wheel thrown pottery, weaving, Nigerian bead painting for example. Families can buy art, make art, and enjoy visual and performing artists and music jams. Artists, musicians and dancers are invited to be here and share their talents with others.

“This is a introductory event, and we’d like to see it grow. It is a cultural event that promotes economic development and a Katy future that includes the arts,” says Terri Bieber, executive director of ARTreach “our organization will pilot the festival for three months this spring. We will be measuring community support for the arts by documenting increases in numbers of visitors to Cinco Ranch and attending the event.”

Communities that support the arts can benefit from a variety of opportunities, including children’s museums, performing arts centers, and cultural districts that improve quality of place and lifestyle for residents in the area. Economic development plans that incorporate art districts can be initiated by the city to embrace surrounding counties and unincorporated areas to benefit the entire community.

The community is invited to please come and support the Art on the Plaza events and help the idea grow. This is a free event, funded by ARTreach, and made possible by art volunteers and individuals that appreciate the arts and recognize the positive impact the arts have our community.

Coming to Cinco Ranch Villagio Town Center March 7th 11-3 pm, April 4 and May 2.

Villagio Town Center is located on the NE corner of Westheimer Parkway and Peek Road in Cinco Ranch.
