Another word/images/music project - oh boy I am addicted to these!

This time, I attempted to write the poetry myself, so pardon me if it's a little amateurish :p. For the footage, Glenn and I went for a drive to Seaforth and Balgowlah areas, then filmed some random trees and stuff ... well he did the filming, I was just there as moral support :)

I did the editting in Vegas and the music was something I put together using Acid, back in April.

I hope you like it.

Video poetry, very nice. Static text over moving video seems to be a little bit detached, though. Durian grows in Sidney?
  • Lydia Kurnia 2 years ago
Thank you for the kind comment, stw254. Yes I agree, the text probably needs a bit more animation. Haha, no durians don't grow here (probably in Darwin), but there's an Asian shop in Chatswood that sells them :)

    Hi Lydia.

    Another marvelous multi-faceted cinematic composition!

I hope that this doesn't sound insulting (because it's meant as a compliment), but part way through the film - as it was carrying me along very comfortably - I experienced dejavu for an instant ...

... there was a flash of something - maybe it was the words, or maybe it was their timing - that reminded me of some of Jim Morrison's (The Doors) "softer" poetry.

I guess I'm showing my age by admitting that I'm a Doors fan (from way back), and I hope that my comparison of your narrative style with that of Jim Morrison isn't too repulsive a concept for you :-)

But I like The Doors - and I like your work too.

    Break on through Lydia!

Wow Arnold, being compared to Jim Morrison's words is a HUGE compliment, so thank you! I wonder which bit reminded you of his stuff? You're too nice :) Thanks for the feedback :D

In case anyone downloaded the old version from a week ago, the new version posted just yesterday has had the colours and levels tweaked, so looks a lot nicer now :)
