Such is life. What a great film. What software was used?
  • Sascha Geddert plus 1 year ago
Thanks man! XSI was used for the animation of the character (btw his name is "Schorsch") and the cam. We then brought the geometry over to 3ds max with point oven where the clouds, smoke and ocean were done with Afterburn, FumeFX and Dreamscape. Rendering was done with Vray. The point oven workfow turned out to be a pretty smooth one!

Very nice idea an execution! Love it!

But why the smoke trail at the last scene moves to the right, when the waves where pulled to the left by the wind?

who is the skydiver in the crew?
  • Sascha Geddert plus 1 year ago
No one actually! We wanted to make a parachute jump to get a better feel for the animation but our school didn't accept to fund it... (otherwise it's awesome!)
So we ended up studying a lot of skydiving videos.

A small suggestion: Scientific data suggests that Life emerged on our planet when a meteorite containing primitive life forms crashed into earth and Life evolved,
    starting with sea-based organisms.
So in the last part: After the meteor crashes, Its death is not in vain but maybe it had accidentally created new life forms.
Thanks for showing us such a great short.|m|
  • Sascha Geddert plus 1 year ago
