As The Place prepared for its 40th birthday celebrations this May, we invited Robert Cohan, the founding artistic director of The Place and Janet 'Mop' Eager, who was the company's original administrator, to film an interview with Kenneth Tharp, The Place's Chief Executive.

In this extract, Bob and Mop recall how Robin Howard, inspired by Martha Graham, founded a dance organisation and involved them in the search for its permanent home - a disused former drill hall in Euston which would become The Place.
