A series of videos illustrating the effect of a sharp tap to a variety of Manfrotto tripods. The videos, filmed at an effective focal length of 3456mm, reveal the time taken to dissipate vibrations.

The tripods were tested in the following order, first with their centre column down, then fully extended:

Manfrotto 190XPROB
Manfrotto 055XPROB
Manfrotto 190CXPRO3
Manfrotto 055CXPRO3
(all of the above fitted with a 701HDV head)
Manfrotto M-Y 7310 YB using built-in head.

The camera used to record the videos was the Canon EOS 550D / T2i, equipped with a 70-300mm lens, zoomed to 300mm (480mm equiv), and using the Movie Crop mode - this in turn multiplies the effective focal length by 7.2x, resulting in the 3456mm total focal length.

Note the times quoted in the video are an average of five consecutive taps judged on-screen while performing the tests. The examples seen in the video may take more or less time to dissipate than the average time quoted, but still reveal the major differences between each model.
