2nd Place - 2010 KC3 Contest, Middle School Division(First Year)
In the Gaelic language Doire translated as Derry means the "place of the Oak Tree". Our city was founded on ancient woodland owned by the famous Celtic Warrior Chieftain Calgach and our school is situated close to Creggan Country Park. These woodlands once covered the entire island of Ireland but have been reduced to 4% in the whole county. We’ll investigate the decline of the Irish Hare, which is close to extinction, and explore why we must all do our bit to reduce our carbon footprint here in Ireland and save not only our city but our planet for future generations.
This program was created and developed by students in Derry City, Northern Ireland for the 2010 KC3 ~ Kids Creating Community Content Contest sponsored by CILC and TANDBERG. (kc3.cilc.org)
