I went down to the Santa Monica Pier and walked to Venice Beach with my XH-A1. Here's some great footage from the trip. I use the TrueColor preset for everything. Music is California Blonde and Hot Sexy Girls (California Remix).

Hey Alex, enjoyed the Venice Beach video. Are you using a tripod, steadicam? Shots are nice and steady. I'm only 5 minutes from Venice...makes me want to go! For a real treat have you been to the Huntington Beach Pier in the Summertime?

Thanks Jim! Actually this was all handheld. I applied image stabilization in post to get it that smooth.

I'd really like a steadicam. It'd help a lot with most of the stuff I do but I have to save up for one first.

I'm usually at home in Washington DC so I've never really gotten to go explore Huntington Beach but I will check that out next time I'm on the west coast. Hopefully it'll be soon. I really like the weather around LA. DC is way too humid in the summer. Maybe I'll be able to move out to California sometime in the next few years.

Nice beach video Alex. May I ask what software you used to stabilise the video in post?

I used SmoothCam in Final Cut Studio 2: apple.com/shake/imageprocessing.html

It's great but I should have shot this with a higher shutter speed because it's impossible to fix motion blur in post. Live and learn!

That is a fun video and the choice of music was great.

Thanks for the information Alex. I'm planning to switch from PC to MAC the next month and I'm also going to use Final Cut Pro, so this is a live and learn lesson for me 2.
