Going through a bee hive in the St. Louis, MO area, looking for signs of health. Of course, ripping through it like this really doesn't help the bees, but I need to control swarming in the urban environment so that my neighbors don't complain too much.

    Oh you are not wasting that burcomb are you? Put it in a bucket and melt it down when you have enough. That's the best stuff for candles and cosmetics and other things.

    No, any wax on the ground gets picked up later and stored. I usually let the girls clean it up, first, to get out any honey or other bits they may want.
