Design For Life is a documentary which tells the story of the Food Forest, a 15 hectare farm and learning centre in Gawler, South Australia. The Food Forest practices permaculture, a design philosophy which draws inspiration from natural ecologies to create sustainable land use systems.

The film shows how the Brookmans, an ordinary family with a typical Australian income, have created a productive and diverse landscape which produces abundant food - at minimal cost to the environment.

With contributions from some of the leading figures in the movement, A Design For Life is an excellent introduction to the principles of permaculture, as well as an inspiring story of lifelong ambitions fulfilled.
