„They are all our children – Two fathers against the circle of violence“
Bassam Aramin and Rami Elhanan share the same tragic fate: both of them have lost a child in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In 2007, Abir Aramin, Bassam’s daughter, was hit by the ricochet of a rubber bullet, which was obviously fired off by an Israeli soldier, and died after two days of coma. Smadar Elchanan, Rami’s daughter, died on September 4, 1997. She was about to buy schoolbooks for the upcoming school year when three Palestinian suicide bombers detonated their explosive belts, killed five people and hurting more than 150.
Instead of acting out their feelings of revenge, Bassam and Rami found each other in the association “Parents Circle – Families Forum”. Today they are friends, calling themselves brothers. Bassam and Rami want their daughters to be the last ones to have come to death in the conflict. Therefore they perform at various events, meet people, who had to suffer the same fate, visit schools and hope to promote peace between the Jewish and the Arabs.
