BBF a new camera from Powershovel/Superheadz
2 years ago
This is a 'teaser' of a great new plastic camera that is in development by the company Powershovel, in Japan. Powershovel are the driving force behind many great artistic projects that involve music, books and photography and behind the company Superheadz Ina Babylon who market all kinds of cool cameras that use film and often alternative formats.
I was lucky to be invited by Powershovel to test a new camera under development called the BBF (initially it was going to be called the 'blackbird, fly' but the company has decided to market it as the BBF now)
It is a plastic TLR (twin lens reflex) that will be capable of taking different format exposures on 35mm film. As far as I know this is the first 'toy camera' TLR that is exclusively designed to takes 35mm film.
Here is a 'teaser' of the prototype I was sent to trial as well as a few example photos I shot with it at the end. Apologies for the low fi video quality. This was a fun camera to try out, but remember it is not available yet, it is still under development and should be released in August or September 2008.
The background music is a piece called 'Soup' by a Powershovel musician, Ken Takehisa and is available from the Powershovel site powershovel.co.jp

Joachim Guanzon 2 years agowow... do you have sample photos taken with this camera? I think this would be a more affordable way to do 24x24mm on 135film rather than getting a taxona... but even if this camera goes to $200 I would still get it because you can actually focus your shot. -
artpunk 2 years agoHi Joachim, a few example shots are shown at the end of the video, but I'll be posting more (and larger viewable sizes) on my blog shortly (theplasticlens.com/blog/) - I'm pretty sure the camera will be going for much less than $200!
