I loved it John! :) i Think when you were walking the camera i really felt it the most! The black and white is totally cool! and when you said "always perfect" haha that was funny.

Welcome to Vimeo! Glad you're on Tumblr too. I've been using it for years and the community is great in both spots ;)
  •
  • Not only is this piece cinematically beautiful, but I really appreciated the snapshot into the day-in-the-life of JM :D.

The nighttime cityscape was so pretty .. and now I really want one of those flaming cocktails ;)

Funny, I made video about my cat with the same title. And if I remember right I used a tune off of the Village Sessions on the sound track.

Hot damn Mr Mayer. Your pictures are as pretty as your music.

Thanks for letting us hang for a day. I didn't know you had Keith Carlock smacking the skins on this tour... otherwise I totally would have bought a ticket. Not that I don't dig your thing (I've paid to see you twice) I just don't dig the stadium thing so much.

    Anyhoo. Keep on Keepin' on.

wow! interesting ... bold suggestion, too ...
I HOPE he loves his life and is NOT seeking "rescue" ...
in all of its quiet melancholy, I still sensed genuine
humbleness (is that a word? hmmm) ...
& a true "joie de vivre."

Nice work with the 5d Johnny Boy! You've come a long way since "Slapfight." (Though I still consider it a classic) I'd like to know your post workflow with that camera. Rock on. Keep 'em comin'!

    nice work John!!!! welcome vimeo.
50mm 1.2 and 24-70 lens is not the best for the work you do ........

EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM Lens Image Stabilizer is key to make video nice.

I dug the lack of audio in some of the shots. It added to the piece rather than it taking away.

    Dig it -- thank you!

The elements that spoke loudest to ME ...

the silence in your head ... (or is that a goal? did I interpret as you meant it??)

The warm-up scales. Loud and proud -- great exercise that I can SO relate to -- I sing.

Black and white photography is my favorite ... beautiful.
In all its simplicity, the most detail is revealed.

I admire your EXTREME creativity ... you are very blessed, and even more beautiful in your graciousness to share your gifts.

Now ... if I could just ask a favor? Just created my account so I could post this comment ... & perhaps I will put some of my own creativity out there too ...
for starters, how do I add an avatar? LOL
    Joy to you!

Makes me want to go out there with a Canon 5D. Unfortunately it falls outside of the 'affordable' category for me, so I'll settle with the Canon 500D (which is still an amazing device, especially for it's price).

    Great cinematography!

Looks great, thanks for the look into part of your world John.
I bet you can find yourself getting lost in many places filming. I produce and direct for a living but I find my camera and guitar a great way to lose myself.

    Enjoy

Loved this - had a slight film noir feel coz of the b&w, and got the feel of the NSW leg of the tour in Oz across beautifully. I saw the show in Brisbane - yes it's Bris-bane and not Brissie these days coz we're all grown up now! Me and my friends loved the performance and what a treat to see such good musicians on stage together. John M, you are someone who makes the world a better place. A true artist.
