Filmed on a Friday, bit of a challenge in the city but was lots of fun.

Their song choice was great.

Good work Peter. Loved the colour tones! And the 35mm stuff really adds to it.
  • Thanks Matt

I didn't use a DOF adapter so thats twice the compliment :) I actually really wish I had the Merlin for this shoot, there were so many good oportunites to use it.

Wow. I could have sworn there were a couple of 35mm shots in there .... Nice!

Very nicely done, and beautifully filmic (who needs a 35mm adapter system?). Loved the colour grading, too.
  • thanks mate, yeah who needs 35mm adapter!?!?! (just dont watch my other vids :P )

I actually don't like extreme shallow DOF as it can start to look like a cutout, but just a good balance of bokeh.

  • Gorgeous work, man. Was this shot in 1080i/24p?
  • Thanks :) yeah it was shot in 1080p A1 and HV20 stuff

  • That's right no DOF :). I do my own grading using the tools within Avid.

Peter, I followed the link from the DVinfo forum here to check this out. Very impressive. I love the look. Can you list some of the things involved in production? For example do you shoot 24p or 25p vs interlaced? You have a very filmic look even though the color grading has saturated colors. Also what was the lighting like in the church for the ceremony? The shots in the highlight looked very well exposed. Any updates on the Ikan iLED 100? Because I couldn't get an answer as to the color temp of the LED's I went ahead and ordered the Litepanel Micro but I am still interested in the ILED for the future.
  • I shoot 25p (no 24p available in PAL land) and in HD. This was a mix of A1 and HV20 footage and that's it pretty much (no steadicam, adapter etc). The lighting in the church was actually not that great so I pushed it in post, on the hv20 shots its more evident but the A1 no problems at all. Ikan is daylight so makes white balance in the reception tricky, I use some gels to convert it to tungsten but that means loss of some of the light strength at the time of the shooting I actually couldn't get my hands on the correct gel so the didn't quiet work properly. The litepanel will be the same and from what I read it comes with proper gels so you would need to use them at the reception otherwise white balancing is a pain.

    Hi
I have the canon HV20 based on your experience would you say that it is worth upgrading to the canon xha1
  • Yes if you plan to use it for professional jobs. Low light its much better, proper manual controls, picture profiles etc..

wow It´s a wonderfull job. One of the best trailers of a wedding that i never see. I love the colorimetric tone, what presets did you use? What kind of color correction use in edition program? I like the terra tone so much. The filters in post production are really goods. Thanx for all. A ver good job.
  • Thanks AGJ, I didn't use any presets to help match 2 different cameras, but did all the grading in Post within Avid.

crazy. jst crazy. that is so awesome. u realy dont use a preset with the xha1? unbelieveable ;-)
  • yeah magic is in the grading, its always best to shoot with as much latitude as you can, presets can crush some colour/image information.
