This past Sunday, at about 4:45am, my dad died. This is my story about the relationship I had with him.

This video is my attempt to honor my dad and his influence in my life.

There is a speak-o where I say January when I really meant June.

Dave... Thanks for posting this. Having been there with you in those "20's and 30's" it was awesome to hear the growth. You taking the time to honor your dad, honors every dad.

Sorry...one more thought...my dad passed away in 1995 and we had many of those similar struggles. You mentioned at the end that you will probably cry some more. I can only say that after all these years, I still have that occassional tear. I still miss him deeply. I wish he were here to see his grandchildren and now great grandchildren and to help me be a better person. I am glad you were able to find that person in your dad as well.

Dave, I'm responding at 11:30 p.m. on June 14th -- half an hour before Father's Day, 2008...
I heard your dad's voice and felt the thrill of the cliffs in your stories. Your reflections on presence and absence, pain and forgiveness, meaning and mystery, left no doubt in my mind about the father-son love between Jay and Dave Reynolds. And, you know, they also lead me to consider a more balanced view of who my dad was/is in my life. Thank you.
