My father, John Doyle, died on January 21 of this year from complications surrounding an inoperable brain tumor. He had been in the hospital for nearly nine months and had been unable to communicate normally and was partially paralyzed for the bulk of this period. His battle with this tumor dates back to March 2005.

A few weeks after he died, I found his iPod going through his belongings. The Johnny Cash cover of "Hurt" was the most played track on my father's iPod.
