This is a series of shots of Brisbane on Sony's EX1 at varying ESS speeds; shot at one frame per-second intervals. Plus a bit of torch waving.

the shot at 0:23 should be on a postcard. really nice footage. what are the white lines that appear at 0:18 and other spots?

My mad torch waving; a mini mag light waved around while I ran the camera at 68 fps, at 1 second intervals. I suffer from ADHD so I have a five second attention span on shots. :-)

That is a neat effect. the short attention span works, really great shots. and at lesat you suffer from somting with "HD" in the title hehe (ok sad joke)

Ahh. It is a blessing in disguise Brian. I must check out your site but it is midnight now so best return to bed and love my long-suffering wife. Great to chat. We will talk more. HD is good.

Great to see some Brisbane HD shots on Vimeo! (drools over the EX1)
I'm a bit dissapointed seeing that guy taking a photo atop the story bridge. I was up there a few weeks ago and they wouldnt let me take my camera...
  • Brett Clements 3 months ago
Mate. You gotta smuggle stuff up there.
  • Stephen G 3 months ago
It must have been a mostly plastic point and shoot as they scanned us all with a metal detector before the climb.
  • Brett Clements 3 months ago
Geez. Next time you're down. Yell. And we'll organise a chopper. x

Sounds good, but towards the end the year. Saving for a HD camera for a sailing trip ATM.

Did you use any gain or anything special on this shot what kinds of setting were you using for the night shots with the water glaring??That looks really nice!!
  • Brett Clements 3 months ago
I wind the gain down to -3 just in case I bump any of the LMH settings on the X1. The trick with these shots, I believe, is:
    1. Frame up. And then white balance on ANYTHING other than white. EXECUTE on the front of the X1. Get sharps.
    2. Go to ESS and then start with 16 fps and work up to 64 as the light leaves. Also. CRUSH your blacks. I tend to wind all my gamma settings up or down by the same. It seems to work. Email me at brett@propvid.tv if you need to go through this in depth or call me on 0433 407 039. Happy to help you get there bro.

Thanks guys. The night shots I'm running at 64 frames per-second (the ESS mode on the X1), shot at one-frame per-second intervals. Saturation is at 99 in camera and the blacks are all crushed.

beautiful work but the city helped you! hehehe
    Congratulations!
    I loved the film.

Yeah. The city did more than help. It laid it out. Shooting time-lapse is a bit of a cheat when you have a subjects like that. Thanks for watching.
