In Burqlesque, Lisa Corine von Koch performs a strip tease in a shimmering blue and silver sequin Burqua to the Portishead song, "Glory Box". Although sexy lingerie is removed during the seductive dance, no skin is ever actually revealed. It is a commentary on the relative freedom of women in the Middle East and American culture. The performance suggests that there may be more freedom in anonymity than the freedom to be completely exposed.
Performance done for Unpolished Art Exhibition, The Chocolate Factory, Phoenix, AZ.
