Nature of Bokeh
This is a project I've been experimenting with in my Nature of Code class. It comes from an interest in studying the aesthetic values of natural particle systems. The idea here is to blend in the new pixels in a way that they look natural, but create behaviours for them that begin to seem unnatural. Shooting some footage with shallow depth of field, I'm left with these out of focus lights that provide a basis to construct a new particle system around.
As the experimenting with this continues, a few of the next things I'd like to try are:
- create some variance in the texture mapping
- see if I can introduce noise to the opacity of the particles in a way that looks natural
- create more complex rule sets for the physics of the particles
- make the particles reactive to sound
