Byron Pitts, Chief National Correspondent for "The CBS Evening News with Katie Couric" and Contributing Correspondent to "60 Minutes," was the keynote speaker during the Maryland Chamber of Commerce's Annual Meeting on April 28, 2010. The Emmy award winning journalist and Baltimore native discussed his inspirational journey. At age 12, he was diagnosed as functionally illiterate. He also suffered from a severe stuttering problem until he was 20. Pitts overcame a childhood filled with obstacles to achieve extraordinary success, and he chronicled his story in his book, “Step Out on Nothing.”
