David Sirota speaks at Cody's bookstore in Berkeley, California as part of a nationwide tour to promote his new book: "The Uprising: An Unauthorized Tour of the Populist Revolt Scaring Wall Street and Washington."
Sirota envies the opportunity Californians have to exert legislative change than can affect the entire nation. He suggests that all the energy spent on Presidential elections would be more constructively used on our local and state issues.
By using an electoral coalition building technique called fusion and a focus on economic issues, rather than social justice ones, Sirota bares witness to a method of crashing through the two-party system and pushing through progressive legislation.
