Great video. I would love to share this on my AsiaTravel360 blog (asiatravel360.blogspot.com) but no credits are available and no ability to copy/paste an embedding link. I would love to know who made this and give them credit. Anyone know the source?

They are poor. They cannot afford to care. Why aren't we protected. Same as contaminated merchandise from China. Standards and inspections. No Government regulation ends in deaths. Shame.

indeed the lack of inspection and application of existing laws - but another cause is the consumer's never ending quest for all things cheap. And not to target just the Mekong, most Asian rivers are like this...the developing nations seem at times unable to handle the rate of growth/change. How many times have I seen houses on stilts overhanging river banks with a hole in the (bathroom) floor. Poor cannot afford to care - disagree they care when they KNOW, education is an important item not seemingly high on the agenda of developing nations. As for this video, bang on target! Great piece!

Fish have livers and internal organs that filter what they consume to a great degree; the deep freeze and the 'cooking' process virtually eliminates any hazard; no less than the mercury and PCB's from our own Great Lake watershed inland lakes. The factory looks very well organized and clean; and never trust a video editor; biased is rampant in the world and lends to slanted reporting because we're buying products from overseas; That is this guys ONLY problem. Bread it; cook it, and enjoy, or start your own frikin fish farm and see what it costs you to operate; OSHA, UNIONS, LIABILITY INSURANCE, WAGES, MACHINERY-

I don't think most people care where there food comes from as long as they can pay the least amount of money possible. Is this fish less safe than strawberries grown in the States, sprayed with pesticides that only immigrant workers are allowed to handle? How does the BP spill affect the aquaculture? Too few people care to make desperately need changes.

I think we all are entitled to safe food. After the Communist established the rule in Vietnam, the living condition in the Mekong delta has not been improved. The truth is fishes for export are from centralized farms under periodic unanounced inspections by international organizations to safeguard that they meet the standards. Unfortunately, the local population is not allowed to enjoy this "pricey fish". Local vietnamese, pour and hungry, tired and desperate, turn to the "mom and pop" farms in somebody's the backyard. I don't think it's fair.
But does the communist care? What the "communist" wants is to do whatever it takes to satisfy the foreign demand to enrich themselves and leave the rest of the people to fend for themselves.
