Stabilized with Deshaker ( guthspot.se/video/deshaker.htm ) in VirtualDub, and then rendered at 800% using layers overlay in Vegas 7.

Shot with Sanyo HD1A in P mode. It might look better if I fix the shutter at 1/30s.

Wow, amazing! Is the blur from 'deshaker' or just from your shutter speed and whatnot?
  • Jason Chen 3 months ago
    Sorry for the late reply.

The blur was produced by overlaping frames together. In this video, each frame was made out of 8 frames. If you look closely, you can still see objects appear in multiples.

Very interesting. So how did you use Deshaker, from inside Vegas (possible?) or with Virtual Dub?

I presume you exported your video as a high bandwidth AVI, processed in VD with Deshaker and then imported back into Vegas for editing?

All help would be appreciated, thanks.

I should have been more specific. Yes, It was deshaked in VD first, saved as WM9 AVI, then imported into Vegas.

I've heard that the WAX plugin ( debugmode.com/wax ) lets you use VD filters in Vegas, but it doesn't work for me. You might have better luck.

    Great, thanks Jason.

Edit: Apparently Wax only works with Vegas up to v6 :(

My footage taken in a ford transit is much sharper and easier on the eye!

I think that I prefered the un rendered version. This one makes me feel a little dizzy like anja said, but the original; I couldnt stop watching it. The irish music was also really good lol.

800% of velocity is probably too much, the previous one is only 400%.

  • Yeah I'm dizzy too, 800% is maybe a little too much and just a tip on how to get it a bit smoohter is using frameblending (avalible in most packages I think). And I think it was mentioned before but a longer shutter speed would also help. But I liked it, cool road!

Vegas automatically blends frames if you change the velocity of a footage. But I guess it's a performance issue, Vegas limits maximum video volecity to 400%. I had to do the blending myself. I used the same video in 8 layers to get the motion blur I wanted.
