Ross - This is very clever - Loved it from start to finish and I'm going to forward to all the people I know in LA who would love this world without traffic.

    Cool, were those HDR stills?
  • Ross Ching 1 year ago
Nah, I didn't do HDR, but I captured in raw and brought up all the shadows in Photoshop's Camera Raw utility...so that increased the dynamic range by 2 or 3 stops.
  • Daniel Hayek staff 1 year ago
    I see, good stuff.
  • Stephen Chiang plus 1 year ago
wow, were you shooting tethered with a large hard drive?
  • Ross Ching 1 year ago
nah, raw files aren't THAT big...however I do have a 32 gb CF card
  • I am just now coming around to the virtues of shooting RAW time-lapse, tuning shadows/highlights. The first time I tried it, I filled up my 32gb card before I went back to check on the camera.

great time-lapse! :D definitely relate to the shots above the palms 405 pass... but wonder how you set up with the chain-link fence there.. either it was during construction a while back, or you were up on really, really tall sticks.. ?
  • Ross Ching 1 year ago
There actually just so happen to be a hole in the fence right next to the light post that I was able to stick my lens through and get the shot. Otherwise it would have looked like crap, hah

It would have been a lot better if you had the shadows moving on the roads. Otherwise, they just look like still shots with a zoom move applied. Nice idea though.

Hey bro, its kinda obvious to comment here all the great work you're doing, for real. So I have to ask you something: After editing frame by frame, how do you put all together and render it in such a great quality? I'm a pseudo photographer (flickr.com/photos/emeahacheese) but I love audiovisual as well and I really love time lapses, I tried making some, I put them on Sony Vegas Pro 9 and rendered them, but the quality really sux, also Im shooting with a Nikon D40.. Some advices? I'd be really glad.

You are really an inspiration bro, for real. keep up the hard and kick ass work of yours, love from Venezuela.
