Remember that one time we were dinosaurs, and we just walked around and ate plants? Yeah, I know it was totally fun. Too bad we're all dead now cause of those meteors or giant unicorns. Oh well.

Old footage. Memory. Colours. Nothing Special. Move along. Okay, thanks bye.

Bah. Boring. Why don't you do new stuff?

Because that totally rocked. I liked how the two sides were similar, but different enough that I couldn't just focus on one side - I had to pay attention to both. Nicely done.

So is this 720 tall and humongously wide, or 1280 wide and incredibly short?
  • New stuff will come..i promise. My head is bursting with ideas but no resources...but in due time in due time...

the dimensions of this video are 2500X720 Videosaurus Rex!!!

It's cool you can upload things in this size - I didn't know that Vimeo would let you. But, alas, Vimeo rocks.
  • yeah I totally love experimenting with different things on Vimeo...keeps me busy while I can't make decent videos.

That Was Pretty Interesting! High Five =] !
  • hee hee thanks so much Ted! I am giving you an air high five from california, you better catch it buddy..or else the dinos will eat it. chomp chomp.

    I just caught it!

I need to get little plastic dinos for a video sometime. =]

i would have made the white gap a bit smaller (graphically) but i love it nevertheless. brilliant idea. everything about it. colors, width, sound, atmosphere.
  • good point i was debating on how big to make the white gap. I didn't want it to be so narrow because then it would seem like a split screen. I wanted the two parts of video to be independent of one another, but still create some sort of coherence. I was playing around with the color white. For some reason, I tried this before and made a circular video..and it look awful. Hopefully I can develop this into something better and substantial. I love that you can "toy around" with vimeo. The one on the left was supposed to be a square but that didn't work out so well.

Thanks loads for the feedback. :-)
  • assbach plus 1 year ago
a square would have been a good start.
    what about this?
    skitch.com/assbach/qffa/memory-b
just an idea, with not much difference to the setup
still enough space between the two flics.
  • Ooo i like that a lot! Thanks. I think i would have three squares on the Right just because I want a super wide aspect ratio. But i like the ratios you made. Thanks so much!
  • assbach plus 1 year ago
:) that's cool yes. superwide... :) i'm glad that was helpful.
  • I am re/rendering/exporting it. I will reupload it so check in an hour or whenever later to see which one you like better. I think it looks way better now.
  • oh man i tried it and it didn't look right. I kept the old one. I think it may be the subject matter. I should try the ratio on something else. I'm going to keep working on it, trial and error. I saved the picture onto my computer to reference it in the future. :-)

I think Videosaurus Rex can only fit in 2500X720. I'm sure I read that on Wikipedia. =P

Good stuff as usual Karen. =D
  • hahah thanks Paul. Yeah I tried 3500X720, he wasn't having any of that. I got snapped at.

    :-(

i like the idea of trying that ratio. Freshens it up...

    very nice.
  • I want to keep trying out new things..I have a couple ideas floating around in my head...I'm waiting on something but once I find out and when I get back from the east coast, I will begin brainstorming some stuff back and forth with you. :-)

I think when people are engineered to have more eyes around their head, this is what aspect ratio motion picture film will adopt. Wow, congratulations! You are well on your way to having secured your own Wikipedia entry.
  • It's hard to gauge how wide "too wide" is, especially in relation to how small things already are viewed online, but it's good to play around and try different things. Haha yeah one of my film professors years ago said that if we could see any wider out, film would go even wider..for the true peripherical (did i make that word up? haha) experience.

Haha oh man I bet my Wiki entry would look like this:

    Karen Abad-
    (see. Dinosaurs)

haha Have a wonderful weekend Jon!

that's the skinniest video i've ever seen. :)
  • the dinos were getting fat so I had to put them to work and make them get skinny. I guess they felt that that had to carry over to video.

green green green green SQUIRREL!!! green green green

i liked it a lot karen.

what if you tried moving the white line and resized the footage?

just a thought, good work as always.
  • I tried a couple different variations, but this one seemed to work the best for what I was trying to do. I wanted as much to make the two clips independent of one another over the placement/size/position of the negative space. I think I need to rework content if I ever decide to use this in the future. Thanks Eric i hope your summer is going well!! :-) miss u tons.
  • Eric Buist 1 year ago
    alright that makes sense.

so when my gmail told me that you had typed back there was an ad for dinosaursatemyshirt.com/ i thought it was funny

Oh man, this user doesn't exist anymore. I wanted to tell him/her that I wish I had the energy it should have taken him/her to come up with a useful comment. If I had that much time, I could have been out planning, filming, and finishing my feature length film. Now that they aren't here anymore, I guess I'll just have to leave a comment for future naysayers to read, so they think twice before bringing upon them the wrath of Karen's Posse.
