The video is a 4 minute animation based on a performance--choreographed and danced by Bill T. Jones--for the San Francisco "In The Streets Festival" in 2001. When I first started thinking about making this piece I thought of the idea of "tagging" Bill T. Jones and using the trope of graffiti (as the intersection of drawing, writing and performance) to express what I saw that day. 7,200 drawings later (the number of drawings that it took to animate this 4 minute video) I ended up with this 4 minute piece of graffiti--tagging Bill T. Jones and his "In the Streets" performance.
