Egg in The Hole
Egg in the basket or Egg in a window (egg in the hole in Commonwealth countries and toad in a hole in Appalachia) refers to a chicken's egg fried in a hole of a slice of bread. Known by countless names in various countries, it is a common comfort food. For example, this dish is sometimes referred to as one eyed jack when the cut out section of bread is fried and then placed back on the yolk, like an eye patch. Another name common in the United States is "Rocky Mountain toast". In the Northeastern United States it may be referred to as a "Bulls-eye."
