On the occasion of the Global Wind Day 2010, a wind turbine blade has been erected in the very center of Brussels, on the Schuman roundabout.
The blade is over 29m long and weighs 4,100kg. It is used in 1-1.3MW turbines which can produce enough electricity to meet the annual average electricity consumption of over 760 households. Obviously it is small by today’s standards: blades can now reach 60m long.
