Video Edited by... me!
Lighting Assistant / Translation Willem Isbrucker
Guiding / Translation by Ricky Vhoetra and Gejeng mentawaiguide.roxer.com
Soundscapes by Benjamin Bates benjaminbates.nl
Still camera, abused and muddied, sponsored by Phase One phaseone.com
All the Mentawai interviews were translated on location with Ricky, Gejeng and Will. However later to sync up the words to the interviews, I had to make a few Skype calls to Ricky and play him the audio. Because of that, some of the words might not be perfectly arranged in the time line, but the content is accurate.

Looks beautiful.
why u don't call me..:)
LOL
As for the video, it was an hvx200 i shot pretty neutral the entire time. I used a tripod maybe 1% of the trip. No tricks or special techniques, just hard work.
Love and Aloha, iamKP-
Well done to all congrat's
how long did you stay there?
I think you guys could have achieved the same result without bringing that much equipment! You can put the whole trip at risk with all that stuff. Creating a whole studio, also can jeopardize the authenticity of people and environment and make subjects feel uncomfortable. It must have been very inconvenient, energy, time, and money wise, as you needed to hire people to carry it.
The content is what makes this very special. The photos which contrast their old way of life and the new generation are great. It seemed that you guys really connected with them and they really opened up to you guys.
Amazing video and project, and thank you for sharing your experience.
Thanks for the insightful comment
Nice job guys!
Keep on working for more stuff
Which cam did you use in this video
And what lens you use ?
Best regards from KSA ...
I posted in a comment above.
I used the HVX200 with the stock lens. I took my letus extreme there with canon lenses but it broke, so the entire video is shot stock hvx200.
Edited in FCP.

the best, to reflect a culture that is being lost, respect, for show us, by an effort not chair or study in comfort. Congratulations friend
