"Red Seeds" is a handmade film that originated from two things. The first was a short story called "Vermillion." The other was the stories of several women- both real and fictional- whose lives ended in their sleep.

In "Vermillion" the female protagonist suffers a head injury, but instead of bleeding red seeds fall from her hair and grow into a tree. When the girl grows up the tree envelops her into an eternal sleep.

While working on this my memories of several deceased women came to mind, such as Lizzie Siddal, Edie Sedgwick, and even the fictional Lily Bart. The only thing that connected these women was the fact that they took too much medication before sleeping, causing their hearts to stop.

Their stories eventually wormed their way into the piece as well.
