Or, The Video to End All Videos.
I don't know what happened. One minute I'm happily uploading Coney Island footage and the next minute the camera went on the fritz. Didn't drop, didn't get it wet. It's only a year old and I've treated it like a baby. Can't really afford a new one and getting it repaired seems pricey too. Anyway there's a strange beauty in it's broken image and I'll have to revert to photomotion and animation I suppose.

    she still has that new car smell (in my eyes) but then I'm from a pre disposable mindset. I want a Leica, or Nikon type relationship, but that's probably stupid... as this camera is already out of date.

    I think cameras that are capable of making this sort of sound and display should not be trashed - I would try to squeeze another video from this baby.

    can you still get new footage shot with the on the fritz camera? broken equipment can sometimes offer new possibilities.I like this too.

    no, it won't let me upload from video... but I can capture by firewire as is the case here.... though I'd hoped for an interesting take on the meetup.

    Looks like a mixture of a bad tape and a dirty tape head. Have you tried cleaning the heads?

    Despite it's broken-ness, this is pretty neat to see :)

    You know it happened after digging around some old tapes from 2001. So I thought it might have gotten magnetized or something. Any advice on how to clean the heads?

    Yeah, they sell tape head cleaners which look just like a normal mini-dv tape. You just stick it in your camera and press play for a while.

    I think most stores carry them (Target, Best Buy, etc.)

    I used to have one of those for my old tapedeck... I'm going to have to try it before I sink 150 bucks into getting it fixed.

    I never said it was trash, just depressing that it's not working. I do have to try cleaning the heads as that could be the problem.

    I think what I said came out wrong, either way, It's a cool effect, that takes FOREVER to replicate, you got it without even trying !

    Do hope you get it worked out one way or another though.
