i've been shooting this doc with my friend Roger for a while...it's about the tunnels beneath Las Vegas...this is just a quick edit...it's also based on the book 'Beneath the Neon' and the guy in the video is actually the writer Matt O'Brien...shot on the XH-A1 and the SGpro...sorry about the noisy and grainy footage but there is just absolutely no light down in those tunnels! shot at +12gain most of the time down there!! The music is by Aaron Marshall...

tunnels and the people who live in them are fascinating to me. i recently read about the mole people who live in the tunnels under new york city. i love stuff like this! can't wait to see the finished product.

If you love stories about people living in tunnels, you should see a film called 'Dark Days' imdb.com/title/tt0235327/, about people under NY in the subway tunnels. It's really good.

    Dave,
This is really intriguing work. I feel you with the light situation; my guess is the lens adapter didn't help with the lighting. Your shots are really beautiful; my favorite is actually the very first establisher, because everything about the shot (the city with clouds rolled low over it) foreshadows the bleak situation down in the tunnels.

Fantastic, but i think if you get ride of the vivid color it becomes more dramatic.

    Hi Dave,

Beautiful footage. The cranked up grain really adds some atmosphere and gives the film a very unique look -I must remember to rip that off at some point. How did you create the image artifacts like the flares and gate hair?
  • Dave Christenson 3 months ago
the flashes are some clips i have from Artbeats just composited over the footage...i also have a 3rd party filter for FCP that lets me put hair in the gate or scratches and stuff like that...i can't remember who makes the filter though? it's something like 'G film' or something like that...

I especially like those shots. For some reason the shots with the hairs seem to have more flicker. Anyway great work.
