In the predawn hours of May 31, 2010, showing a terrifying disregard for human life, Israeli naval forces surrounded and boarded ships sailing to bring humanitarian aid to the blockaded Gaza Strip. On the largest ship, the Mavi Marmara, Israeli commandos opened fire on civilian passengers, killing at least 9 passengers and wounding dozens more. Others are still missing. The final death toll is yet to be determined. Cultures of Resistance director Iara Lee was aboard the besieged ship and has since returned home safely.
Despite the Israeli government’s thorough efforts to confiscate all footage taken during the attack, Iara Lee and director of photography Srdjan Stojilijkovic were able to retain some of her recordings. Above is 15 minutes of footage from the moments leading up to and during the Israeli commandos’ assault on the Mavi Marmara.

Israel puts up a blockade on Gaza. People say the blockade is illegitimate.
This convoy of ships tries to run the blockade and Israel stops them in int'l waters. Even though that's normally legal, people say it isn't since the blockade is not legal.
Seems that Israel just can't win no matter what it does. Where are all the protesters when Israeli grandmothers, teenagers and babies are killed?
I guess all of us in the occupied lands of Australia, most of the middle east, northern Africa and the US should just be happy our predecessors totally subjugated the previous inhabitants of our lands.

It's all about power and money. They had no right to attack them, they were just normal civilians trying to help those in stucked in gaza, we could be there.

PEACE PLEASE, hope to see it someday, we should look inside ourselves and try to find something to change this sad world of war and power. Hope to see palestine and israeli people in peace, without the war made by governments.
As for 'proof' the video provides - it indeed shows people injured and dying, but it fails to show *who* does the shooting, the injuring and the killing. The video is heavily edited, showing only 'the best' parts, from activists' point of view. To an objective observer, however, the video fails to bring facts to life.

Anyone defending IDF murder and slaughter needs some re-education in humanity and what it means to be a human being.
The ship was in international waters, israel was basically committing an act of piracy by boarding the ship and the activists on the ship had every right to defend themselves.
You say this video is not the truth but you don't say anything about the fact that israel confiscated just about all pictures, video, and all the security cameras aboard the ship. They confiscated all of that footage and are now editing and releasing it bit by bit in their pr campaign to show themselves again as just the innocent angels "defending themselves" from some evil "turrorists"
You are a perfect example of lack of education here.
1. 'Piracy' cannot be committed by a government or a state. Please education yourself on the subject.
2. The Freedom Flotilla were offered to transfer aid through Israel or Egypt. They declined both offers. If their goal indeed was to transfer humanitarian aid, they could have done it with no confrontation.
3. As I just said, international waters make no difference, as Israel's action was legal according to international law. You saying to the contrary is a misguided opinion, far from a fact.
4. If Israel indeed confiscated all footage and pictures, how did all this get on the internet? Also, the IDF, as far as I am informed, did not use activists' footage for its PR campaign, but instead used own footage.
5. The activists were not in the wrong. People that *were* in the wrong are about 30-50 IHH activists who boarded the boat separately and prepared to attack IDF troops few hours in advance (according to the ship's captain).
It is funny how you want to teach me about humanity. And you might be correct here, I should learn some. While we're on the subject, could you point me to any post of yours where you criticize Hamas for murdering Palestinians in cold blood, or murdering Israeli children? Thanks in advance.

1) What would you call a crime, that pirates commit, but by the government instead. Is there any fancy word for that?
2) From the outset, the activists clearly stated that transporting humanitarian aids isn't the only reason for setting out the trip, but also to draw attention to illegal blockade of gaza. It's not simple as you think - to drop the cargoes at whatever port Israel wanted them to because Israel still not acknowledge cement as aid which is much needed for reconstructing infrastructure that were destroyed during 08-09 siege. I think you weren't paying attention to the news.
3)You insist on Israel legality of attacking the ship in International water base on a country right to take preemptive measure against to those about to violate blockade and yet, it never occur to you if the blockade itself is legal.
4)Again, you obviously are not following news. What IDF doing is, check the contents and only letting out ones that pass their screening. Last time I checked, there are still many in the hands of IDF and reporters are waiting to get them back.
If I were you, I would at least listen to both sides before I make any comment on the issue. I wouldn't let my emotion take over my judgment and jump over.

thanks chris, that was helpful, i was under the impression that was blood by the ladder; it is red dye from the israeli paintball guns. might seem insignificant, but as opposed to most people on here, i like to understand everything that i am seeing *before* passing judgement and appreciate your assitance in doing so.

I've heard the argument that the world focuses on Israel unjustly, but did not the decent peoples of the world not stand against apartheid, the serb atrocities against the muslims, and against the germans' treatment of the jews some 70 years ago. The decent must stand again again the evil perpetrated in gaza and the wb.
I'm not buying the cut and paste scene of what appears to be a bloody ladder.
If the Israelis really opened fire before entering, noone would be standing up firing their slingshots on the same side of the ship where the rubber boat is at.
Furthermore the camera recorded gun shots after the Israelis were dropped off.
These kinds of propaganda vids arent helping much.
Really, the most I got from this video was mild amusement of the guy firing a slingshot round at a helicopter. The rest adds nothing to the debate, and truly only would affect people already on the pro-Gaza side.

To the "filmmakers" If you discount this film you are no filmmakers. Just ego feeders. Cant you just click on a nice cartoon? The fighting is caused by people that come here to discredit the video. If your films were important you would know all too well.
you are really spinning: while on one hand you seem to be so well informed about some international rule of your convenience (San Remo), on the other hand you forget to mention that Israel is violating a UN resolution (resolution 1860) in which the Gaza blockade is qualified as illegal and in which Israel is asked to lift the blockade. Who is ignorant here? You or the peace activists? And your attempt of trying to look impartial or sympathetic to the Palestinian people by referring to the alleged executions by Hamas of Palestinian oppontents, it is really very not credible.
If the footage taken by the people on board of the ship was not damning for the IDF why confiscate it? Were they out to simply steel photographic and filming material/equipment? I doubt it. Anyway, the Israel army/authority has by the way stolen equipment for a five figure sum of Euros, if you think that many of the people on board were professional photographers (one of them for instance -from Italy- reportedly was robbed for more than 20 thousand euros worth of equipment). The same film-maker informed that the IDF even throug overboard some of the dead bodies... The fact that people are missing corrobarates his allegations.
All witnesses concur in stating that the IDF shot before landing on the ship and that two people were killed by shots on the head fired from above prior to the landing of the first IDF soldiers, which could explain the angry reaction by the activists.
The pictures of the booklet with photographs of activists corroborates statements made by several people on board (some are European MP) that the IDF was out to arrest/kill people and that they fired at people who were in the cabins.
We may not be 'educated' in your eyes, but as you see we are well informed.
