25 days, 34 films, and 1 tribute.
Editor's note: Many friends after seeing my video "Tarantino vs Coen Brothers" requested me to do a new video duel of directors, so I decided to do now a tribute to my two favorite directors, Stanley Kubrick and Martin Scorsese, were 25 days re-watching 34 films, selected more than 500 scenes, and a hard work editing.
This video was purely non-profit and not Aimed at breaking copyright laws.
Editor's note #2: I know that they are different in many ways, this is not necessarily a comparison or "fight". It's just a hommage for two of my favorite directors.

Sooo fantastic!
One question however, given the preponderance of extremely violent imagery included in the edit, would you say that this is an accurate representation of the two directors' interest in the depiction of violence in their own films, or more a case of the editor in you finding useful visual rhymes and rhythm for editing purposes?
vimeo.com/2374045
which film is it between 6:26 - 6:37 ???
You have my like ;)
I cringe thinking of the derivitive crap Scorcese has put out over the years; at least Kubrick had some original flair for his material...
I understand that people do not like the video because I have put together Kubrick and Scorsese, but that's not my problem, each with its own taste... each with its own cinema.
Spielberg vs Capra
Hitchcock vs Hawks
Godard vs Truffaut
but best ever would be
Charlie Chaplin vs Harold Lloyd
good shit right here,
quite a masterpeice
I honor your process.
I like Kubrick alot more than Scorsese.
But it's hard to compare the overall acting when there is no sound.
P.T. Anderson vs. Wes Anderson
Oliver Stone vs. Ron Howard
David Lynch vs. Charlie Kaufman (screenwriter as auteur)
Sergio Leone vs. Sam Peckinpah
Mel Brooks vs. Peter and Bobby Farrelly
Peter Jackson vs. Steven Speilberg
Francis Ford Coppola vs. David Lean
Now, suggestions for other comparisons?
Keep in mind, for these, I wouldn't keep it down to just directing, but what they produced and wrote as well maybe.
Tim Burton vs. Jim Henson
Alfred Hitchcock vs. Steven Spielberg
Danny Boyle vs. Christopher Nolan
maybe a compilation of superhero movies
Spider-Man, all the Batman movies, V for Vendetta, Watchmen, X-Men, Iron Man, Hellboy, Superman, The Incredibles, Fantastic 4, Daredevil
maybe a compilation of horror movies
maybe a compilation of GOOD comedies
Star Wars vs. Lord of the Rings
So yeah, those are my suggestions.
Thank you all.
Wong Kar-Wai v. Ang Lee
Wes Anderson v. PT Anderson
Just watching this makes me even more sure that Kubrick was the lens-master. Every shot perfect in every way. WOW!
I have not seen many of the Scorsese clips............that should be rectified. I have, however, seen every frame of the Kubrick stuff (many times).
I did not want to compare, just enjoy myself. If you'd prefer something less adversarial, "Kubrick and Scorsese" on each other.
Thanks for watching.
It's a tough call, but IMHO, Scorsese wins!
I think choosing some music that blended together better would have improved this, but I'll admit the Radiohead section was beautiful.
2 questions...
1. what video editing software did you use?
2. suggestions
Tim Burton VS. Terry Gilliam
Michael Bay VS. Roland Emmerich
Christopher Nolan VS. David Fincher
Pixar VS. Dreamworks
