When I went to San Diego last month I was alone for most of the day. I rented a bike and rode around. When I lived in SD in 2003-2004, I never rode on the beach, but on this trip I noticed the sand was hard so I tried it, and it worked.

This is before the pedal came off (see photo).

What's it called when you aim your camera at the sun and it gets all glitchy?

I love when you get really close to that kid, I thought you were going to hit him on the back of the head.

Isn't it called lens flare? Or is that something else?
  • Perez 3 years ago
I donīt think thatīs lens flare... Itīs something else that happens with video cameras. Iīve read about it somewhere....

digital blowout? the chip is getting overloaded.
  • dalas verdugo staff 3 years ago
    found it. it's called "blooming".
  • Paul McClintock plus 3 years ago
Yeah, that's something else entirely. The video went black.
  • Paul McClintock plus 3 years ago
I thought blooming was just a kind of haze around the source of light. Kind of over the edges.
  • dalas verdugo staff 3 years ago
no, blooming is caused by pixels on the chip overloading and bleeding onto other pixels. it happens with CCDs and not so much with CMOSs.
  • Paul McClintock plus 3 years ago
    Hmm, learning is fun.

I think it's bad for the camera, though. They warn you in the manual not to do it. Sorry to be the nagging mom.

Nice. I especially liked the kid screaming at the end. Can't wait to get to go to San Diego in January.

At the end, the music makes it seem like something really bad is about to happen. It seems like the kid just sees the beginning of the sun exploding, and then the clip abruptly ends (presumably because the exploding sun destroyed the camera).

That music works so well with it. I really like this clip. For some reason cycling on a beach in San Diego seems like the kind of thing that would stick in my mind for many years to come (if I actually did it).

to the pedal-> I also have had such kind of cruiser bike with the same problem, maybe they didnīt assemble it right when they got it, also this stuff (bike&equipment) comes from the other side of the planet, mostly from companies where the word quality is unknown.

on the video -> Yeah, I love San Diego I cannot understand why you leave it for NYC.
This pacific view makes me cry `cause I couldnīt be there.

I'm sure you remember that it was on a hard-sanded beach that you learned to ride a bike in the first place...

Ha, that was cool dooder, very beautiful day, I love the beach, ahhh...memories. The music was cool, very omnious! I kept thinking a giant killer crab was going to blow by riding a bike of his own, with people running and screaming for thier lives! While, you laugh and keep riding, yeah!
