This is a display I created which digitally celebrates the unique essence of Betty’s Bar in Wellington, NZ. Through research I established that the bar reflects heavily on the funk and soul era, as this is the type of music generally played when open and the bar is decorated with many items that come from this era.

I constructed this display by taking photos of many items around Betty’s and looked at the aesthetic of videos from the funk era, which mostly contained cutout styled animation.

Using Photoshop, I was able to construct characters that involved a DJ and dancers and took them into after effects, which I used to animate them and create movement. The whole scene was created in after effects using multiple effects to give each character individual personalities in the pursuit of celebrating the funk!

This video is intended for use spanning two projectors with a resolution of 2560 x 608.

It was used as a looping video in Betty's projected on 6 synced projectors which wrapped around half of the bar.
