Danny Perasa and his wife, Annie, came to StoryCorps to recount their twenty-seven-year romance. As they remember their life together from their first date to Danny’s final days with terminal cancer, these remarkable Brooklynites personify the eloquence, grace, and poetry that can be found in the voices of everyday people when we take the time to listen.

Hooray! This is a really graceful treatment of the material, as usual. You guys have a real knack for finding the right balance between creating new visuals for the interview, and letting the original audio stand on its own.

This is absolutely amazing and one of the more powerful statements about love I've seen in a long time. I lost my mom to cancer back in 2007 and not a day goes by where I don't think about her and what an amazing human being she was.

    Thank you.

It takes a special touch to make people laugh and cry at the same time. Great job on bringing this story to life on screen. While not the usual laughs and oddities we have at MilkandCookies.com, I thought this needed to be shared.

Many of the comments onthe vimeo page were saying that they with they could have this love one day or that they have to find an annie but in fact i think that in fact to have it, you need to be able to receive that. Todays culture is so screwed that even if we ourselves had an anna or danny most of us don't know how to embrace it anyway. Alot of love is projection of what you hope it will be like. Finding this love comes internally and not just externally and if we all found this internal peace we would all have what it takes to apprciate the love we find along lives path and it would work. You can just hear the gratitude in this mans voice because he knows and was probably born knowing how to truly appreciate what he found years ago. If we could all be like danny then the world wouldn't be so fu**ed. Our generation is the start of an aprehensive future with too many options and most people being so scared by the divorce rate statistics that they don't even bother jumping in to a situation and may never know what its like to have an anna or danny.
Or wait, nevermind. I just woke up and started rambling. Excuse me i have to go eat my frosted flakes.

I like your rambling and totally agree with you.

Reminds me of Elizabeth Barrett Browning's powerful and deep Sonnet XLII from Sonnets from the Portuguese (1856):

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candlelight.
    I love thee freely, as men might strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints,–I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life!–and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

Extremely Touching. Made me real sad, as stories of death when presented with realism always do with me. But also something beautiful about the entire thing.
Made me think about how I felt when my mother was in hospital, awaiting an operation on her heart, the way I felt.
