Dr. M. Ali Chaudry became the first Pakistani-American Muslim to become Mayor in the United States in 2004. He was elected to two three-year terms on the Bernards Township Committee (2002-2004, 2005-2007), serving as Mayor in 2004 in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.
