Wyland was invited to be the keynote speaker on "Water" at the 2008 UNEP International Children's Conference in Stavanger, Norway, June 17-21, with more than 1,000 children from 110 countries attending. Wyland painted two oversized canvases with kids from around the world teaching them about the endangered marine animals from around the globe.
This event kicked off the Wyland Foundation's International Eco Art Project, "Hands Across the Oceans".
