first prototype test of our Super Mario Treadmill project for the 2010 Ars Electronica Festival.

An Arduino monitors the running on the treadmill, while a hacked gamepad handles all the other input. An open source emulator library built by Mar for Processing sends the keystrokes to the NES emulator.

Thanks to Martin Kaltenbrunner for help with compiling the emulator library.

    PONG, Super Mario, Space Wars ... it seems that most artists like to mod the classics. But that makes sense, they are clearly fun to play. At some point one should make a show on classic games modified by artists...
