This is the first time to shoot with the new hacked settings and also to shoot in true Anamorphic windscreen. I still need to figure out a proper way to mount the Anamorphic lens to the cameras lens. Weird threads and stuff going on. So for now I just have it strapped to support rails in front of the camera. The quality is not very good because I am still trying to figure out how to focus with this thing on it. Also it was really low light when I shot some of this and in order to get a sharp image on an anamorphic lens, you need to shoot at high apertures.
I shot all of this using the firmware hack and I compressed the image within the camera by using custom aspect ratios. I shot this in 2160x720. That is a 3:1 aspect ratio! I got all my settings from EOSHD.com.
The lens is a Dyaliscope Junior 16. It was made in France and was used to film many very famous French New Wave films.
I know that most anamorphic lens tests on vimeo are garbage and I cant stand that. I am upset that I am just adding to that pile. Hopefully though I will get the hang of this lens soon and put some better stuff up.
It was all shot in MJPEG 24p 2160x720 with a Nikkor 50mm 1.8 on a GH1.
This video is crazy wide. I cant believe I got this lens for $80 on ebay.
