A collaboration between myself and musician Simon Cullen (as part of his band project Le Bien). While I shot and edited the video, Simon worked on different iterations of the song. This allowed for an interestingly organic creative process, resulting in this strange film about horses and children trapped in adult bodies.

    really nice, why subtitles?
  • irish accents sound weird on camera. no, we couldn't afford a soundman. actually coz we wanted to focus on just music as the sound. i dunno.
  • oh wait i see what u mean. like it doesn't need the subtitles? maybe i'll get rid of em..

Nice work. But i guess its a bit to much music-clip for a shortfilm and to much shortfilm for a music-clip....nice experiment anyway.
  • yeah thats the point really. where is the line? i know i've been refused festival entry because judges instantly think 'oo music promo'- when it didn't come about like that at all... i mean just coz the music is a bit poppy and not like violins or something..

I really enjoyed this. The cinematography is beautiful.

The horse and beach and kids combination at the end kind of made me think of 'Into The West' for some reason.

    Great job, anyway.
  • that must be my unconscious influence!

Wow! So strange and unique, yet completely beautiful! I'm in awe! I seriously cannot get over this feeling this film gave me... It was a breath of fresh air. The music was fantastic. The cinematography was excellent. And the effects were exciting. In attempt to sum it all up: amazing!

    This is very beautiful!

How did you achieve such an extraordinary aspect ratio?
  • very easy- drop big black bars over your image. also we put masking tape over the viewscreen on the camera so we knew what we were framing for.. there was a few vertical shifts on some shots too.
  •
  • josh 1 year ago
completely original. love the music. great shots. beautiful imagery. amazing effects. love the video!

Truely amazing work. I love the framing. I wondered if it was masked as you shoot with a pre-determined end frame crop. Coolest piece.
  • see above!
  • Tim Duggan 1 year ago
yeah it was in true 16:9 1080 50i HD all the way through edit and the masking on camera was for the true 16:9 picture that you would end up seeing. Paddy Jordan is the man!
