176,305 - So Ahead of it's time is this South bay Rock Emo thriller, that one will swear that he or she is listening to the White Stripes and Jack White or maybe The Vines or even the Hives from the mid 2000's first decade but low and behold , this 60's Garage rock inspired gem comes from the same mind of the guy that brought you "Brandy" and "White Black Thang" (Also from 1991, 92 era circa). - "I wrote all my songs when Jack White and the Vines were probobly 7 years old" Says Clark Hagins in 2009. Greenhouse Effect's Music was dominated by Hagins (Though the Phil Keegan 'Six Feet Under' ranks still as one of cyberspace's biggest songs) who had the musical pop rock ideas for 2009 and 2008 way back 20 and 25 years ago in the "South Bay" area of Redondo Beach California where he grew up on a steady diet of Sst Records bands from SWA to DC3 to ofcourse Black Flag and even Greg Ginn's Solo Material; "Being from Redondo beach, it was mandatory that we all had to know about punk rock and i started my education early as in 1981, I bought the Stooges first two albums when i was like 15 and 16,....that way, I knew I would have the knowledge and the edge over others (Laughs)" Says Hagins for Rock City Boston. Hagins also had an enjoyment ear for Pop and songs from ABBA, Harry Nilsson, The Monkees, ELO, QUEEN, and the Bee Gees also Rocked his world; "There was this very unfortunate uncool side to me that like Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen ....and this led me to get into stuff like Saga, Rush, ..and Loverboy,....ya know,..Canadian Shit" Says Hagins "In many circles in the South bay, ..there is no one known as more unhip and uncool than me,....but I like that,...My music still sounds great today and people everywhere around the world love it,..and thank God that i still got all this live G.e. footage,....especially the stuff with me and drummer_Greg_Tarpley,....I feel that that is really important". Hagins says that "Progressive Rock" and bands from Genesis to Elf to Emerson, Lake and Palmer also shaped his musical directions and ambitions . "I wasn't just into punk rock and 'that' only,....in the South bay ,..especially in Torrance,..you had to have some metal,...and i loved Dio" says Hagins. Greenhouse Effect's internet music is a well known careful blend of George Harrison solo like songs with a mix of the Who and Harry Nilsson tunes like "Jump into the fire" and "Early in the morning". "Growing up downstairs at 251 and listening to my Harry Nilsson songs like "My best friend" and my beloved "Nilsson Schmilsson" Vinyl Lp - which i still HAVE,...BROUGHT ME ULTIMATE JOY" Says Hagins. Irie Bob stands as a testimony to Hagins' musical vision for the future,....hearing this song today definitely makes listeners learn and 'feel' of Hagins musical prowess; "I remember recording Irie and my sound studio engineer Billy Krodel thought that the song sucked (Laughs) ,..he tweaked it with all this shit and studio gadgetry and then the song really rocked,....it's become one of Greenhouse Effect's most famous and known songs now on the web !!" - Hagins got his start long ago as Drummer for a Torrance California punk band called "Outlash Control" in 1983 before moving onto the more bluesy "Soul clinic" with reknowned South bay blues-rock Guitarist_Steve_Stepanian before settling in as permenant drummer with the Jim Mellon Quartet in 1986; "People really don't know that much about the music of the South bay but they all know me" Says Hagins "Hopefully,..they can really learn about Black Flag and not just hear about it because some 11 year old skate boarder has it on a T-shirt in 2009 - Jango PopScore 88 Week of June 15 to 21 Greenhouse_Effect_Songs_Torrent Downloads "Black Or White" 2010 BMI.
